Exploring the challenges and opportunities of upscaling delivery of Nature-based Solutions

The Welsh Government, as one of the founding sub-national governments for the Memorandum of Understanding on Nature-based Climate Action, recognizes the significant role that Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can play in addressing both the nature and climate crises.

Examples of the application of Nature-based Solution to deliver both mitigation and adaptation action alongside other co-benefits are many, yet upscaling their delivery to be more universally applied remains a challenge.

Natural Resources Wales (the statutory environment agency in Wales) has worked with nature conservation and environmental protection agencies from across Europe to identify both the barriers to mainstreaming the delivery of NbS and recommendations to overcome them.
